Rand Martin, Kathleen Van Osten and Kathleen Mossburg joined forces in March, 2013 to form MVM Strategy Group in Sacramento. Martin and Van Osten, affiliated with another lobbying firm for 11 and 14 years (respectively), successfully provided strategic public affairs and advocacy services for a variety of clients, including Google, SAP, TechAmerica, AT&T, the Los Angeles Dodgers, United Airlines, Mills Corporation, the Los Angeles Unified School District and California Charter Schools Association, as well as several development and land use clients with projects around the state.
Kathleen Mossburg has lobbied in Sacramento since 1991. In 1998 she started her own lobbying firm, Mossburg and Associates, working successfully on behalf of several non-profit clients who focus on “safety net” issues before the Legislature, such as health care, health access and children’s nutrition. She has been a strong and effective advocate on behalf of her clients in the California legislative, budget and administrative arenas. Prior to establishing her own firm, Mossburg lobbied for Planned Parenthood, one of the State’s largest non-profit organizations.
The firm maintains a strong Democratic presence during a period of Democratic supermajorities in both houses, a Democratic Administration and across Democrat-held Constitutional Offices. By virtue of spending more than 90 years collectively working at the State level, MVM enjoys strong relationships with elected and appointed officials, and state employees who hold key and critical positions throughout the State. However, through years of working across partisan lines to pass or defeat legislation and budget proposals, these seasoned professionals hold strong relationships across partisan lines.
